Background
Charles is a Nottingham Law graduate who started at the 300 strong
law firm Martineau Johnson in 1996. Charles qualified as a solicitor
in the corporate department in 1998 and moved to technology and technology
corporate finance in 1999.
Expertise
Charles specialises in analysing the technology market and selecting
companies that are suitable for investment.
Charles can advise technology companies on strategies for obtaining
finance from individuals, venture capitalists, banks or the public
markets.
He has a strong track record of introducing client companies to sources
of finance. In the last 12 months Charles helped procure offers of
investment worth between £100k - £5m for 5 technology
companies. He also can introduce clients to other technology contacts
in order to help their business (such as introductions to new suppliers
or customers). Charles has well over 200 contacts in the industry.
Experience
Charles has strong corporate experience. In 1999 he was seconded to
GEC Alstom to assist in their £6bn flotation on the London and
New York Stock exchanges.
Later in 1999 he completed 4 corporate takeovers worth over £50m
and was then appointed to head up Martineau Johnson's technology and
e Business initiative.
At Martineau Johnson Charles advised over 100 technology companies
and was instructed by technology funds worth over £200m to find
technology companies suitable for investment.
As well as doing work for clients Charles has written for publications
such as e Business, Internet Business and Internet Works magazines.
He has also been appointed to the advisory panel of the European Technology
Forum and is on the board of an internet company.
